It’s been almost 4 months since the Legendary Whitney Hosuton, tragically passed away. However as her legacy and artistry live on, it’s hard to deny she has influenced a legion of current divas that are currently riding the charts so VH1 plan on doing a tribute to the R&B songstress this December…
VH1 president Tom Calderone says:
“We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney’s music, it would be ‘Divas’. December felt like enough time where it wouldn’t be sad anymore, you’d want to celebrate her music.”
I feel if they are going to do a tribute to such a legend, it HAS to be executed correctly, with the right artists in-line.
My picks would be : Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Kelly Price, Brandy & Monica and Jill Scott.

A lot of people would consider R&B singer/ dancer Omarion very underrated. His first two studio albums debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and ever since he’s been shipped around multiple labels, looking to re-create the same success.
Fortunately, it seems The BOSS, Ricky Rozay has taken a liking to him, recently announcing Omarion as the latest member of his ‘Maybach music group’.
Not sure about this move for Omarion, does Rick Ross know how to market urban acts or is Omarion looking to go into a completely different direction? Either way it will be interesting to see how Omarion develops as an artist being the newest signee.

Chris Brown has recently released and interesting freestyle, spitting over Kanye West’s Way too cold, in which seems like a subliminal diss to ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
“Don’t f*ck with my old bitch it’s like a bad fur/Every industry n*gga done had her/Shook the tree like a pumpkin just to smash her…”
Rihanna clearly listened to the freestyle, as moments later, the Bajan singer tweeted:
”Aw,poor dat #neaux1currr.”
Proceeding to then unfollow and block Chris on twitter!

With the release of his highly anticipated 5th studio album gearing up, Chris Brown has recently shot the video to his latest urban single ‘Till I die’ featuring rap artists of the moment Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean. The video was shot in sunny Los Angeles and should see a release date soon, as well as his other single ‘Sweet love’ another urban fan favourite.
Chris’s 5th album ‘Fortune’ hits stores July 3rd, proceeded by the smash single ‘Turn up the music’.

Bieber fever is back! The freshly turned 18 year old, is looking to release a new album titled ‘Believe’ which currently has an unconfirmed release date but is expecting sometime this Summer.
The tracks sees Justin whisper rap, in the style of the Ying-yang twins (The whisper song) and sing in falsetto notes in Justin Timberlake style. He talks about what type of relationship, the lucky girl who gets with him would have, (I’m assuming he’s talking about Selena Gomez). LOL
I think the song is very mature for Justin, it’s vey Urban with a hip-hop appeal and his vocals seem to have improved a lot with age. I can’t help but think they’re trying to mould him into the new Justin Timberlake by trying to appeal to a more urban audience but I like the song and i’m interested to hear what he comes up with, on his forthcoming album.

Bajan, pop superstar Rihanna has done quite a lot in her career thus far. At just 24 years old she’s the highest selling digital artist of all time, has been named one of the most beautiful women in the world and has released a shocking SIX full-length studio albums, each year since her 2005 debut.
With a new movie due in cinemas this spring, it doesn’t seem like the 24 year old is stopping anytime soon.
On a recent stop to London, she dropped by BBC radio 1 to talk to DJ/host Scott Mills and confirmed: She has a new world tour planned for 2013 quoted ”We’re going to be going on tour next year. So this year we’re spending out time planning to make sure it’s bigger than anything we’ve done and something more impactful, maybe something different, so my fans can get excited about it.”
She also confirmed she had started work on her 7th studio album, stating she was in the early stages and was working on gathering the sound/direction and is hoping for a Katy perry collaboration in the near future.

Seductive lyrics, laced with a laid back R&B beat is what makes this song so great, loving this from Kelly! I’ve always preferred her more urban cuts as apposed to her Pop stuff anyway. Reports suggest that the former Destiny’s Chid member is keeping her next studio album strictly R&B!

R&B fan favourite, Trey Songz has graced March 26th as the release date for his new single ‘Heart attack’ , taken from his upcoming album ‘Chapter V’ .
I really enjoy Trey’s music as an artist, ‘Trey Day’ and ‘Ready’ are among some of my faveourite R&B album on my iPod. I do often wonder how far he can steer away from the over sexualised lyrics and sing about something a bit more meaningful, or slightly different.
